Since my original intention was to build a table for showcase, so previous elements have been added to this design. Now it is more like a sculpture (or a wastepaper basket), so I name it hexagonal sculpture.

For the function part, I'd rather say it's for display but because of its structure, it can also act as a container like a pen holder.
Depending on the size of the item, its audience can also be different. As the pictures above show, it can be simply used as a sculpture or container for display.

I actually love that it can be a multi-purpose sculptural piece. I can see it as a pen holder and a waste basket! The table could definitely be a luxurious sculptural piece with a simple glass top to it! Have you thought about how you would print it and whether you need supports to print the hexagons?
回复删除This is a very interesting idea. I like that it does not have a defined role. It is up to the creative interpretation of the user. It is interactive.
回复删除The structure is really ascetically pleasing, I think another use for this shape could be a flower vase, if there was a layer of glass inside. It is cool how your design works at so many different sizes!
回复删除Hi Liro! I think it's great that you included various renders of your design. The render of the baby holding a tiny model is so good - it made me smile. The design seems practical and I feel like the scale model can be made with either a 3D printer or a laser cutter. Have you decided which you will use?

回复删除Wow this would be so captivating large-scale like in your first image! I was immediately thinking it could also be a nice contemporary wine holder. The bottles would slide through horizontally through the hexagons... could be nice? Great design!
回复删除I really like the multifunctionality of this piece because you could almost do anything with it. I could even see this as a climbing thing in a playground. Nice work

回复删除This is so special! I think it would be fun to use them as basketball nets. It can also be a sweet design for the nba trophy for the champion!
回复删除Personally, I really like metal materials. So I like this design so much that I want to bring it to my house. It is different from the purpose of this furniture, but it has a design that can be used for a wide variety of purposes.
回复删除This looks like a really cool vase to me, and I wonder what it would look like if you were able to fill the negative space with a clear resin or something. It reminds me of a stained glass design, very intricate. This piece feel gravity defying.
回复删除Considering size is always an incredibly important step in creating just about anything, and I think you've done that remarkably well! The fact that this one design can be used in a variety of different scenarios is a great touch!
